A total of 120 senior stage drama, television artistes, singers and lyricists have been appointed justices of the peace for the entire island.
Justice minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa handed over the appointment letters today (10) and stressed the position carried more responsibilities than merely certifying sworn affidavits.
He described artistes as the unofficial legislature of the country, saying however that they were yet to be duly recognized.
