The cabinet yesterday (06) decided to set up a subcommittee to inquire into Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and a gazette issued by the sports minister appointing an interim committee to run affairs of SLC.
It has come to light that president Ranil Wickremesinghe was unaware of the appointment of the interim committee, leaving alone its composition.
He has come to know about it via media reports, said political sources, adding that his attempts in the morning to contact sports minister Roshan Ranasinghe over the phone had failed.
Ministers, who met at the Presidential Secretariat in the afternoon, discussed the matter.
The subcommittee comprises Tiran Alles, Manusha Nanayakkara and Kanchana Wijesekara.
