Families of the war-missing have told Canada and other foreign officials that they would not abandon their struggle until they are given justice by the international community.
Mainly women, they met Canadian high commission officials in Colombo on 01 August as more than 2,350 days have passed since their campaign to demand the prosecution of those responsible for the enforced disappearances in the north and the east.
Thambirasa Selvarani from Ampara said they expected international mediation in their cause.
Secretary of Vavuniya’s association of relatives of missing persons Sivanandan Jenita said they received an assurance of support from Canada.
Manuel Udayachandra from Mannar hoped the international community would respond positively to their call.
Representatives from all eight districts in the north and the east participated in the meeting.
