The Judicial Service Association of Sri Lanka (JSASL) has expressed strong displeasure over the appointment of two high court judges.
In a letter to president Ranil Wickremesinghe, the JSASL referred to the appointments of Tikiri Jayatilake, former assistant secretary general of parliament, and senior state counsel Nayani Nirmala Kasturiratne.
The two were appointed despite the president being previously informed in writing about their ineligibilities.
The public will lose faith in the judiciary due to such appointments, leading to a collapse in the supremacy of the law, it adds.
