The Supreme Court has treated the president in kind after he threatened people’s representatives to “shut up and sit down,” said opposition leader Sajith Premadasa.
The president has received the appropriate answer from the court against his crafty attempts to put off the local government polls, he said at a public rally in Kalutara.
The government cannot postpone elections any longer, he said, adding that his SJB took the matter to the court and guaranteed the voting rights of 20 million people.
All this happened while others kept silent after striking deals with the government, Premadasa charged.
He vowed to continue making such commitments in the future.
