The Sri Lanka Rupee continued to appreciate against the US dollar today (02).

According to Central Bank exchange rates, the buying rate of a USD stood at Rs. 343.97 and the selling rate at Rs. 356.73.

State minister of finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said foreign reserves improved 23.5 per cent from 1.7 billion USD last September to 2.1 billion USD by the first week of February 2023.

He attributed this growth to the positive economic decisions taken by the government, coupled with the prevailing political stability and peace.

The state minister also said food inflation declined from 94.9 pc in September 2022 to 60.1 pc in January 2023.

Also, tourism arrivals grew 261 pc to 107,639 by February 2023 from 29,802 in September 2022.
