The SJB is due to hold a major protest in Colombo later today (20) against government attempts to put off the local government polls.

Its national organizer Tissa Attanayake said thousands of supporters would attend the agitation starting at 2.00 pm.

He said this would be part of a series of protests to demand that the election was held on time.

Meanwhile, opposition leader Sajith Premadasa said in Kamburupitya that they would wage a peaceful struggle in the streets to get an election as per the people’s wish and right to vote.

He blamed the incumbent president for the people’s hope for a real change not being realized.

Today, the president has become a puppet of the Rajapaksas who live a life of super luxury despite their expulsion through an uprising for having destroyed the country.

Premadasa also said it was hilarious to hear a certain party speaking of solutions to the burning issues, after having killed people, set fire to houses and destroyed public property.
