A writ petition filed by a retired Army Colonel, W.M.R. Wijesundara, against the holding of the local government polls will be taken up for hearing at the Supreme Court today (20).
The application was first heard on February 10, and was fixed for the next hearing on February 23.
Wijesundara filed a motion seeking the petition to be taken up expeditiously.
Election commission too, to file motion
Meanwhile, the Election Commission is to file a motion within days before the Supreme Court over difficulties in holding the LG polls.
