Social media had been excited with reports of the Viharamaha Devi statue located near Ruwanweli Stupa in Anuradhapura being adorned with a traditional ‘Osariya’ and modern costumes.
After the matter was brought to the attention of the Department of Archaeology, its officials immediately acted to remove the garments from the statue, said its director general Dr. Anura Manathunga.
