Thilini Priyamali has been sexually-abused in prison where she is remanded over her alleged defrauding of massive sums of money from the public, according to her lawyer.
In a complaint lodged with the Human Rights Commission (HRCSL) yesterday (06), lawyer Manju Sri Chandrasena said the unwarranted body searches had left her with injuries to her genital areas.
Prison police on November 24 body-searched her on three occasions, removing all her clothes and inspecting even her genitals.
She had to be hospitalized for the injuries she suffered due to her being searched, which should normally be done by using the machines that are there for that purpose, said the lawyer.
