Justice and constitutional reforms minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe has requested speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena to appoint a parliamentary select committee to propose electoral reforms.
According to his proposal, the Committee is expected to recommend a suitable homogenous electoral system for parliamentary and local government elections.
It will consist of 21 members appointed by the Speaker and can seek the assistance of experts in the field.
