Shops remained shut today (26) in the northern and eastern provinces to mark 35 years since a ‘lieutenant colonel’ in the LTTE, Rasiah Parthipan alias Thileepan, died during a hunger strike.
Thileepan, who was on a hunger strike in front of the Jaffna University over several demands, died on September 26, 1987.
