Senior actress Damitha Abeyratne is to take a decision today (23) if she would enter politics in view of the prevailing situation.
Speaking to the media yesterday, Abeyratne said the injustices she had undergone had left her in a dilemma about politics, which she had never hoped to get into.
“In this country, I feel that a person gets hit on the head repeatedly for trying to stand up as an independent. A country without an opportunity to appear for the truth. When the truth is spoken, we are hit on the head and crushed. Most of those in politics get protection. I do not say that is correct.”
The actress added that she would decide with whom she would stand politically, stressing that that would be the most reasonable place available.
