President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is set to hold talks with the group of 11 parties who have decided to remain independent regarding the formation of an all-party government.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at 10.30 a.m. today (29).

The decision to attend the meeting chaired by the President was taken after concluding discussions at the official residence of former President Maithripala Sirisena on Thursday (28).

Accordingly, the general secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Dayasiri Jayasekara said that a group of 40 parliamentarians will hold a separate discussion with the President.

President Rajapaksa in a letter addressed to the leaders of political parties affiliated with the government called for a meeting to discuss on an all-party government that can be formed after the Prime Minister and Cabinet resigns.

The structure of the interim government, its duration, and responsibilities are expected to be discussed at the meeting.
