The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) has projected that around 11,700 Sri Lankans will succumb to the Coronavirus by June 01 and will increase to around 20,800 by September 01.
 

Based on current IHME projections on Sri Lanka, the number of daily deaths due to Covid-19 is expected to rise sharply with around 205 deaths projected by June 01. However, based on the projections, the death rate will reduce to around 88 deaths per day by September 01.

In terms of hospital resource use, data shows that the peak requirement will occur on 16 June 2021. By then, a total of 17,049 hospital beds will be required. Of these 17,049, 3,451 ICU beds will be required to treat patients.

The IHME, an independent population health research center at the University of Washington, provides rigorous and comparable measurement of the world's most important health problems and evaluates the strategies used to address them.
