Five Indian nationals, two women and their three daughters, who are staying at a leading resort in Gintota, have tested positive for Covid-19, the Office of the Galle District Director of Health Services said.

It was reported that the two women, aged 38 and 34, and their three daughters, are residents of Tamil Nadu, India.

PCR tests conducted on Wednesday (05) had confirmed that all of them had contracted the coronavirus. They had arrived at the resort on April 30.

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Thursday (06) announced that all arrivals from India will be banned with immediate effect due to the record rise in Covid-19 cases in the neighbouring country.

CAA Director (Air Transport & Economic Regulations) Rayhan Wanniappa said that there were no restrictions on transit passengers at the BIA, adding that there were no restrictions imposed on departures from Sri Lanka to any city in India.
