Talks of the 'electric chair' have resurfaced following the latest report released by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

UN Rights Chief Michelle Bachelet called on member states to consider imposing 'targeted sanctions' on Sri Lanka. Further, the report urged enhanced monitoring and strong preventive action by the international community, warning that “Sri Lanka’s current trajectory sets the scene for the recurrence of the policies and practices that gave rise to grave human rights violations.”

What will happen at the upcoming United Nations Human Rights Council's 46th session scheduled to commence on Feb 22?

For the first time, Minister of Foreign Relations Dinesh Gunawardena speaks to the media regarding these developments.
